So in 1994 there was this banner...
In Anfield, which read "Come back and sing Ooohh Ahh Cantona when you've won 18".
Just read that tonight, and well, it just dawned on me how close we are to 18. One more point...
I'm too young to have lived through the scouse dominance and to even remember that banner but believe me, I have endured several years of "Awwh well we won the league the most times" and deluded Liverpool fans who still claim to be the best team in England because of that record, despite them winning their last title almost 20 years ago. I just find it amazing how SAF has finally knocked Liverpool off their perch. The banner was put up by arrogent Liverpool fans who underestimated United, and to be fair, who would of predicted in 15 years we would be one point away from number 18?
Just think of all the players that have helped to win those league titles. Including Cantona, Irwin, Neville, Keane, Rooney, Ronaldo and of coarse Ryan Giggs. Number 11 for him! Crazy.
United fans please, take nothing for granted. Enjoy this moment, enjoy the next couple weeks of title celebrations, and appreciate just what SAF has done for this club.
So Liverpool, United will be back, and Ooohh Ahh Cantona will be sung at Anfield. Exciting.
Sorry for the rambling post. I'm tired, and the banner just made me think...
